Friend Honored at Annual Faculty Awards Banquet
Each year, faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences are recognized for their contributions to the college, the university, and the impact of their teaching and research at the annual faculty awards dinner. One member of the Department of Classics received an award at this year’s event, which took place Thursday, December 1, 2016.
The Excellence in Teaching awards recognize faculty members’ excellence in teaching at the lecturer, junior, and senior level. John Friend, assistant professor, received a junior-level award for his ability to teach an exceptional variety of courses at all levels. His impact is not limited to the classroom, as he has helped develop new courses and modify the curriculum in classics and has even transformed a general education course serving hundreds of students. His students also appreciate his effort in the classroom, which include explaining the subject matter and making his lectures entertaining and intellectually stimulating.
Congratulations to Professor Friend on his achievement.
