Athena Travel Scholarship

The Department of Classics is pleased to announce the creation of the Athena Travel Fund, which provides annually a scholarship of up to $4,000 to participate in a program of summer travel and study or excavation in a country with primary evidence for the study of the ancient Greeks or Romans. Applicants must be currently enrolled at or admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences at UT pursuing an undergraduate degree in Classics. Students interested in this scholarship must consult the head of the Classics department (classics@utk.edu) concerning application procedures for the specific programs they wish to pursue. Since application deadlines for these programs vary widely, students are encouraged to begin consultation with the head during the fall semester before the application is due. The application deadline for the Athena Travel scholarship is February 1 of the year in which the award will be made.
