The Department of Classics announces the creation of two new endowments in 2019-2020
The Dr. Geraldine C. Gesell Aegean Prehistory Faculty Award Endowment
In March 2020, Mr. Richard L. Sias of Oklahoma City decided to honor Dr. Gesell's life and work by establishing the Dr. Geraldine C. Gesell Aegean Prehistory Endowed Faculty Award. This will be a research award and salary supplement for a faculty member in Aegean Prehistory. Part of the proceeds must be used for the curation of the Kavousi excavation records. It is hoped that this endowment will grow and become an endowed professorship in Aegean Prehistory. This endowment started in June 2020.
The Christopher Craig and Ann Robinson-Craig Classics Excellence Fund
In October 2019, Classics Professor Christopher Craig and his wife Ann Robinson-Craig established the Christopher Craig and Ann Robinson-Craig Classics Excellence Fund Endowment to provide scholarships primarily for Classics students who want to teach the classics at the pre-collegiate level. This endowment will start in January 2022, and also it is accepting donations.
