The Arthur H. Moser Memorial Scholarship in Classics is provided by an endowment created by Mrs. Arthur H. Moser, the Moser family, friends, and former students in Classics of the late Professor Moser. This scholarship is for a promising student in the languages of Latin or Greek at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The holder of the scholarship must study Latin or Greek or both for two consecutive semesters and earn at least a "B" each semester in the Classical language.
In awarding the Arthur H. Moser Memorial Scholarship, the department will give preference, first, to students who major in Latin or Greek; second, to students who are prepared to study Greek or Latin on the 300 level or higher for a full year; third, to extremely promising intermediate or beginning students in Greek or Latin who are keenly interested in the classical languages. The Moser Scholarship is awarded in conjunction with a Haines-Morris Prize (see below) so that the total award equals the cost of annual in-state tuition. The application deadline for this scholarship is March 1 of the year in which the award will be made.
